Reflexology for
Menopause

I've expanded my expertise with specialised training alongside the esteemed Sally Earlam, through an AoR accredited course, focusing on supporting women during this unique phase of life.

Menopause, a natural and inevitable stage in every woman's life, is not just a transition but an integral part of a positive, healthy aging journey. Despite the apprehension often associated with this time, with the right support and knowledge, we can navigate it with grace, maintaining overall wellbeing.

While reflexology doesn't treat menopause directly, it emerges as a powerful ally in providing support and alleviating symptoms. Its benefits extend beyond, seamlessly complementing other treatment options.

In a world already marked by a relentless pace, menopause coincides with a time of heightened emotions and stress. Factors such as children leaving home or concerns for aging parents can compound the challenges.

Research suggests that prolonged exposure to stress hormones like cortisol can amplify menopausal symptoms (Cagnacci et al, 2011). Therefore, it becomes imperative to prioritise relaxation.

Numerous studies highlight reflexology's efficacy in addressing sleep disorders and reducing depression during menopause (see references below). We know that reflexology is a profound tool and wonderful way to induce relaxation, making it an ideal complementary therapy to navigate this phase with tranquility.

Facial Reflexology

for Menopause

I'm also thrilled to share that I've recently completed a facial reflexology course tailored specifically for peri-menopause and menopause. This exciting addition to my repertoire introduces uplifting techniques designed to counter the effects of ageing, along with specialised maps targeting menopause-related issues. Through this course, I've gained invaluable insights and techniques to address the unique needs of women during this significant phase of life. As we navigate the journey of menopause, my goal is to provide holistic support that nurtures both physical and emotional well-being, guiding you towards a path of graceful ageing and vitality.

Facial reflexology offers a unique approach to addressing menopausal symptoms, complementing the benefits of traditional foot reflexology. Here are some potential benefits of facial reflexology specifically for helping to reduce menopausal symptoms:

  1. Targeted Approach: Facial reflexology allows for precise targeting of reflex points related to menopausal symptoms, offering a direct and focused treatment approach.

  2. Enhanced Blood Circulation: Stimulating reflex points on the face can promote increased blood circulation to the head and neck region, potentially alleviating symptoms commonly associated with menopause.

  3. Stress Reduction: Gentle pressure applied to facial reflex points can induce relaxation and reduce stress levels, which may help mitigate emotional symptoms like anxiety and mood swings during menopause.

  4. Hormonal Balance: By targeting specific facial and nerve reflex points related to hormonal glands and systems, facial reflexology may help support hormonal balance, potentially reducing symptoms such as insomnia.

  5. Facial Rejuvenation: In addition to addressing menopausal symptoms, facial reflexology techniques can also promote skin health and revitalisation, offering a holistic approach to ageing gracefully during this life phase.

Overall, while foot and facial reflexology are both highly beneficial for reducing menopausal symptoms, facial reflexology offers a more localised and targeted approach, making it a valuable addition to holistic menopause support strategies. However both are great modalities for supporting women through this transitional stage of their lives and each treatment has slightly different benefits depending on your specific symptoms. If you are unsure and would like to contact me directly, I can ensure you book the right treatment for your specific needs.
